Police officer fired for not shooting man with unloaded gun

With all the contreversies of officers shooting unarmed black men in the US, you would think Stephen Mader would be commended for his actions.

The West Virginia officer recognized that the suspect didn’t have violent tendencies and was egging him on to do a suicide-by-cop, so he tried to calm him down and de-escalate the situation.

However, when two other officers arrived on scene, they shot the gunman after he started coming towards them.

Officer Mader was then let go, the reason being that his actions put other officers in danger.
